I was hit head on and one of these seats belt snapped and my 16lb doxie went flying into the front seat. My 9 lb doxie was still attached. I am now looking for a more heavy duty one to ensure both my pups will stay in the car seat!

Well I got it today and just by looking at it , it looks very durable and for a med sized dog . But I have a small dog so it'll do . And the price was a good deal 2 for $9.00 . Cheaper than Chewy . Com

Yes, my dog is riding in the front seat and not in a crate. I have an entire backseat cover and we are working on that. She is a stander, a twirler, a whiner, and a climber. She wears a collar and a harness for walking/training, as well as for car rides. I would not hook her to a seatbelt by her throat so a “tether” to her harness is what I wanted. I almost opted for one of the seatbelt clip ins but decided they would a nightmare for her given her twirling and climbing and whining. This secured to the headrest (which is always in the down position), hooks to her harness so it will not yank her by the throat in the event of a accident or me swerving to avoid something, and it extends long enough that I can adjust her range of freedom without plummeting off a seat either as she grows from a puppy to a dog. It is currently at its shortest length though, so adjusting longer is probably not happening.It seems heavy duty, same material as leashes with metal clip, but there are plastic parts that will weaken with age especially in a hot car exposed to UV. This came as a 2 pack, so I will likely just replace the current one with the spare in 6 months to be cautious.I opted for the yellowish one because it is the most visible. I think if there ever were an emergency it would be the most visible color to draw attention in my truck’s dark interior. Not my favorite color, but increasing visibility in the event the tether/seatbelt has to do its job, well, that was more important.So far it works great. Keeps her in the seat when I brake, turn, even if she twirling or trying to climb out of the seat. She doesn’t get tangled up, my seatbelt clip isn’t broken because I clipped something into it, and this device is readily visible since it attaches to the headrest. If she grows any taller I may need to find a shorter one, but otherwise this is a good length with good adjustments for dogs shorter than 18” to the shoulder. I would suggest measuring your headrest to the seat, then subtracting your dogs shoulder height to get the best length. My puppy has grown a few inches in the past month this has been used, and I have easily shortened it 4” in that time, and I cannot shorten it any further.Overall this ticks all the boxes for my requirements: adjustability, length, visibility, allows my dog to twirl without tangling herself up, doesn’t jeopardize my seatbelt clip, and seems beefy enough to do its job if it gets tested beyond me giving it several hard yanks. Fair price, 2 pack so I have a replacement at the ready, and I will do my due diligence and inspect it regularly for signs of wear or failure on any clips, rings or plastic. Very easy to quickly clip onto her harness and just as easy to unclip. Here’s to hoping it never gets tested beyond this!

Not sure how I'd get by without these. My dog would not stay in the back, and this is the correct answer. It helped train my dog who now sits patiently in the backseat with this on.

I have a crazy dog who is very protective of me and our space, including the car. Previously I had her hooked from a harness in the backseat which allowed her to move freely there, but when we were near another dog, big truck, etc she would jump at the windows, clawing at the vinyl underneath and even would bite the fabric from the top. And then I got a new car and could not have her tear it up. Item after item failed and I was running out of options. And then this!! I used both restraints and tightened them up, placing her in the middle of the backseat and hooked both to her harness. So when she tries to go to the right, she's restricted from the left restraint and vice versa. She still has some mobility and can lay down, but she can no longer reach the windows. This was a life saver!

I think they are going to work great. Straps keep dogs in backseat but allows them to lay down or move positions. Also will be handy as leashes when stopping for potty breaks.

These are a must have if taking dogs in a car. Mine want to get in my lap while I drive. These keep them from doing that and secures them in place. Very convenient

It did the job ....to a point. While my dog was strapped in, she still managed to roam around the car a bit. I did adjust the length to the shortest length I could make it. However, the strap was still long enough for her to roam around. The strap lasted for quite a while but my dog decided to start chewing on it. She chewed right thru it! So if you have a heavy chewer, I wouldn't recommend this. Once she chewed thru the strap, she was free and I had to improvise a restraint with her leash the rest of our trip

The seatbelt hookups in our UTV won't take a regular dog seat belt. We got these so we could hook them to the bars behind the seats and adjust them so the dogs won't jump out after squirrels. Have only used them once but the were just what we needed. You can unhook them to get them around the bars and tighten it so the dogs are secure

I have been using this type restraint for my dog for years.I was involved in a traffic accident and the airbags deployed.My dog was held securely in the seat and was not injured in any way.The driver of the tow truck said he had never seen an animal that showed no sign of stress after an accident. He was very impressed by this “seat belt” for the dog.I am merely replacing the old, original belt that had begun to show signs of deterioration.

These are very lightweight and simple to install. Just attach to chair and adjust straps. My bichpoo had no problem adjusting to these, and he is a pup who use to move all around the car and across all seats during car rides, which is why I ordered this doggy seatbelt! I’ve had no issues. Just had to assure that the adjustment was right. Now my lil’ 4-pawed energizer bunny is safe and happy during car rides, and my mind is at ease because all seems safe and secure!

I really wanted to love this dog safety seat belt. The concept is fantastic — it was by far the best way to keep our corgi and German Shepherd safely separated in the backseat of our truck during drives. For a while, it worked perfectly. The adjustable length gave our dogs just enough freedom to sit or lay down comfortably, and I appreciated the peace of mind it offered — at least initially.However, things took a turn when our German Shepherd hit around 6 or 7 months old. One day, while driving, I was startled to feel a nudge on my shoulder. I turned and was shocked to find her standing right next to me in the front seat. Somehow, she had snapped the buckle and broken free. What made this especially terrifying was that the rear window was half rolled down — thankfully, the child lock was engaged, or the situation could have been disastrous.This incident completely shattered my trust in the product. If a young, still-growing shepherd could break the buckle that easily, I worry what a fully grown, stronger dog could do. It's not a risk I'm willing to take again.Since then, I've resorted to using a very short leash that I manually wrap around the backseat headrest multiple times, tie off securely, and clip to her harness. It’s not as convenient, but at least I know it will hold.In summary, this seat belt might be fine for smaller or less powerful dogs, but for medium to large breeds with strength (especially those still in the energetic puppy phase), use with extreme caution. We have 3 dogs around 20 lbs each. These leads provide a large, durable, high quality, safe and quick harness attach, and release system. The loop at the handle slides over the headrest, or clips under the head rest if you prefer. Rest stops are no longer chaotic. We can safely open the back door and manage each dog a safe exit. They cannot jump out. They want too try. Haha The lead is just long enough for walks. I wish we knew about this exact solution years ago. The length allows stand, turn, redecorate their space without tangling around each other. Built well, will hold larger dogs, durable and perfectly designed to keep everyone in the back seat of the Ram truck and the Lexus car. We use a high quality hammock in each vehicle for the safest back seat travel experience. Combined we are a happy calm family. Just get this and relax.
